Pune Pride - President's desk - November 2015

Looking at the amazing singing enthusiasm among our club members, Vaishali, our cultural program chairwoman, kept 2 separate programs-Paus Gani and a Kojagiri evening. SudhirPhadke songs were sung accompanied by the traditionalTabla& harmonium. The songs sung by Mrunmayee & Neha will be remembered by all of us for a longlong time. Apart from giving the rotary platform to all these fantastic singers, it also helps us in discovering new talent in our club.

Sarita, Sunetra, Ashwini, Aarti... in fact all the Anns in our club had excellent ideas to create a festival atmosphere with lamps, rangoli, faraal and a sumptuous traditional dinner.

Umesh, Ramesh and their team continued the tradition of giving to the underprivileged. We celebrated Sundaymorning with the Children at the Manavya institute.

I want to specifically mention the initiative taken by Vidya, Medha&Nandu for the Sunday walking group. I couldn't resist myself in joining them on a couple of occasions. The group is very motivated & active. The interesting part is the breakfast after walking. I urge all members to join.

In October we invited entrepreneur Nitin Kulkarni of Vastushodh. The lecture was very informative as also encouraging to all those who want to start a new venture.

November is the Rotary foundation month. I request all club members to donate generously to the foundation.

We will be inaugurating our club's mega project, ROTARY PUNE PRIDE BLOOD BANK, on 4th December by the hands of Dr Prakash Baba Amte. Subodh and his team have worked relentlessly on this dream project. I would request all club members to remain present on 4th December ,with their relatives & friends, for this program.

We have been doing service projects in healthcare till now.We will soon be doing a Global Grant project in Teachers training for the first time. With the efforts taken by Dhananjay, Sanjota&Subodh, we have received an overseas partner for Global Grant & I am sure the project will get the necessary RI approval soon.

We will be conducting a Seminar on organ & eye donation on 11th December. A team lead by Dr Nitin Kolte& Dr Chaitanya Ganapule are coordinating the event. Eminent doctors, surgeons, NGOs, Government officials, lawyers & donors will speak in detail  about eye &organ donation. The program is at SM JOSHI hall. Please bring all your friends & relatives to this program.

We still have a long way to go and a lot of promises to keep.I assure you that we are taking positive steps in that direction.

District conference is just round the corner. It is a great platform for assimilation. It is also valuable because it gives opportunities to network with other club members in the district. Those of us who are yet to register may please do so at the earliest.

Well, time to stop writing & start acting upon the goals and objectives set forth. ....
